Kingfisher Beer Europe is proud to announce it's plans for National Curry Week (2nd – 8th October) this year, showcasing a commitment to bolstering the British Curry Channel during these challenging times for the industry.
National Curry Week, established in 1998 by renowned food writer and journalist Peter Grove, has since become a significant event in the UK's culinary calendar. This annual celebration aims to recognise and appreciate the cultural and gastronomic contributions of curry to British cuisine. Now owned by Kingfisher Beer Europe, National Curry Week continues to celebrate one of the country's favourite dishes, with a particular focus on supporting curry houses during a particularly difficult time, with supply chain challenges and the cost of living crisis having an impact on restaurants nationally.
In an endeavour to amplify our support, we have created A Guide to Spicy Success, a handbook featuring invaluable tips from a cadre of esteemed figures within the curry industry. This resource is poised to empower restaurants across the nation, providing them with the tools they need to thrive.
Restaurants can now visit our dedicated website, nationalcurryweek.co.uk, to access a treasure trove of promotional materials. From eye-catching posters to engaging social media templates and logos, these resources are designed to entice customers into restaurants and take part in the curry-fuelled festivities. Consumers wanting to find their nearest curry house can do so by using our interactive Curry Map.
A notable highlight of this year’s celebrations was the culinary feat accomplished by our brand ambassador, Dipna Anand. We challenged her to prepare 60 mouth-watering curries in just 60 minutes, with all proceeds donated to local food shelters. Did she surpass this monumental culinary challenge? Watch the video below to see if she beats the clock!
For those seeking a fiery thrill, our "Beat the Heat" challenge beckons. Participants are encouraged to record themselves tackling the spiciest curry they can handle, sharing their valiant endeavour on TikTok and Instagram. The individual who maintains the steadiest composure for the longest duration will stand a chance to win a year's supply of Kingfisher beer - a reward truly fit for the boldest of curry aficionados.
Throughout the week, expect competitions on our social channels from our Brand Partners, including Boom Kitchen, Howdah Snacks, Spice Pots, and Real Handful Snacks. These partners share our passion for delectable cuisine, adding an extra layer of excitement to the festivities. Be sure to follow National Curry Week on Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok to be kept in the loop.
Andy Sunnucks, Senior Brand Manager at KBE Drinks, expresses his enthusiasm: "National Curry Week is a vibrant celebration of a culinary tradition that has woven itself into the fabric of British culture. We are delighted to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the British Curry Channel, offering our unwavering support. Together, we hope to ignite the flames of the curry-lovers across the country for the spiciest week of the year."
As National Curry Week unfolds, we invite all curry houses and enthusiasts to partake in this thrilling celebration of flavour, tradition, and cuisine. For further details and updates, visit nationalcurryweek.co.uk.
